Terms of Service
Last updated: 8 March 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Crimate API platform ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization.
2. Service Description
Crimate provides REST APIs that aggregate and normalize publicly available data from government portals, public registries, and other authoritative sources. The Service includes API access, developer dashboard, documentation, and related tools.
3. Account Registration
You must create an account to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API keys and account credentials. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to violate any applicable law or regulation
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, quotas, or authentication mechanisms
- Redistribute raw API data in bulk without prior written agreement
- Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm individuals
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
- Interfere with the operation of the Service or other users' access
5. API Keys and Security
API keys are shown once upon creation and are not recoverable. You are responsible for securing your keys. Compromised keys should be revoked immediately via the dashboard. Crimate hashes API keys before storage and cannot recover lost keys.
6. Pricing and Payment
Free tiers are available for all API products with usage limits. Paid tiers are billed monthly via the selected payment gateway. Prices may change with 30 days' notice. All fees are non-refundable except as required by law.
7. Data Accuracy
Crimate aggregates data from third-party public sources and makes reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy and freshness. However, we do not guarantee that data is complete, accurate, or current. Users should verify critical data against authoritative sources for high-stakes decisions.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Crimate shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of revenue, data, or business opportunities.
9. Termination
Either party may terminate at any time. You may delete your account via the dashboard settings. We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these terms with notice where practicable.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or dashboard notification at least 30 days in advance. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
12. Contact
